HOW LONG YA BEEN DOING THIS??

“SO HOW LONG HAVE YA BEEN DOING THIS, ANYHOW??” Caricature artists get that question more than any other…   I started out in this business — drawing live caricatures — thanks to my ex-wife, Janie, who  worked in a nightclub in Piqua, Ohio. Before that I had done sketches of politicians, mainly, in my editorial cartoons for newspapers back in the 1970s. No great success there. Ah well…  The club wanted to have caricatures of their regular customers and she introduced me — after a bit of negotiation, the club and I worked out a deal. Crack of Dawn Show

Yesterday morning Diane was just getting into her wheelchair by our bed when she suddenly gasped — “Oh! Look at the SKY!” We had been struggling so hard to get her out of bed and dressed then briefly standing to spin around and sit in her chair I had not looked outside at all. What we saw was a lot like this image, taken last year from the same spot. Fabulous! She loves that kind of thing as much as I do and it’s neat to share with someone you care about, right? Sure thing. I hope you have a beautiful day.

Franklin Fall Fest…

Every year I am invited to draw at the Franklin Fall Fest and it’s a neato time for all… THIS year it was FREEZING, not our usual weather, so we backed up next to the big bonfire and drew from there. My grandson Jake drew caricatures with me for an hour, free of charge, getting some experience in this business and did just great… Toward the end this young lady and her GIANT Great Dane came over for a sketch. Fun time!
