Diane and I had a neato time Saturday evening at the Schuster Center, which is always a cool place to go. They are more than helpful in dealing with her wheelchair needs, the staff always fun and upbeat.
We very much enjoyed a performance by the Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra called A Hero’s Journey — a Military Appreciation Program (in observance of Veteran’s Day) in three parts. The first was Dona Nobis Pacem in its world premiere, then Dreams of The Fallen (with harrowing combat poetry in supertitles by soldier Brian Turner) and finally Beethoven’s “Eroica,” which was amazing in its teeth-rattling intensity. Fantastic performance by all. A groovy way to spend an evening! (The young violinist drawn here was not at the Schuster Center, but the image kinda fits… )
